La Fille du Roy was created for the MTL Game Jam 2023 with the theme being “Historical events”. Feeling that a lot of historical themes lent themselves to darker subjects, we chose to do a dating simulator based on the arrival of the King’s Daughters in New France to make it more lighthearted.
Although we knew a visual novel wouldn’t win a prize at a game jam such as this one, words cannot express how much fun we had creating it. We went in with the only goals of having fun and making a finished game, and we perfectly accomplished them.
The real prize was being the talk of the jam once the submissions were in! ;)
